I paid for my assessment and I found it really hard. It took me a long time to get over it.

Did you do the ADOS thing?

I never had developmental delays and I hate trains and I still got a diagnosis.

It’s helped me in work, where self diagnosis wouldn’t have. And having the piece of paper is a bit validating? But it was also really really awful and very deficits focused

But I don’t think all providers are like that

I’d be super happy to chat more ❤️

Thanks Zoe, it might help to chat more soon, today is very busy and I’m still shattered. They worked off the DCM-5 (why working off the US things rather than ADOS when NHS I have no idea) I provided evidence for my adult child for theirs and we basically worked through a list of questions (different provider). This was absolutely nothing like that. My AQ 50 I scored 44, and my husbands questionnaire he completed scored me at 37. I had test scores from a different provider for masking and something else I can’t quite remember all put me firmly in the range.

What an ordeal. I just read all 3 of these posts. I feel angry with you about that Dr. Maybe, give yourself some time for the agitation to settle down and see how you feel about it all in 3 months. You are not annoying. That Dr felt annoyed by your responses because you challenged him. Good for you! Booooooo! Another man with professional titles and a big ego making intelligent women doubt their own minds. It’s not you. It’s not your brain. It’s the god damn system! You know yourself. Your family know you. Trust in that. Katie xx

Thank you Katie. Not even a Dr, a trainee psychologist.
