Oh my god, I feel this so hard. You described this feeling (that I literally also just said only not in a poem: hoping to hope) beautifully!

I would love to know more about the fear--what it is of, where it comes from. Maybe, in exploring it, you might slay it?

Oh, I know what it’s all about, and this poem was written a while ago very particularly about my ME, so the fact that the medical community go round and round rediscovering the same old stuff about how to identify ME but never move on towards treatments. It has been happening since the 1980s. If I get my hopes up about a cure or treatment I will not be disappointed year after year. I spent a long time in the early years being hopeful and then being disappointed. So I don’t hope about that. I have to accept my life as it it now, not hoping on some miracle treatment or cure that will take decades to find, to live it to the full.

Ah, I understand that. I've had the same kind of medical experience. In what you just wrote here, I see a kind of slaying. There's a lot here, you know? A glimpse into a more complex understanding of Hope.
