Dear Knitting Cabbage Heads,
(I have been using patterns by Claire Garland from Dot Pebbles Knit for most of these little animals. She has a fab Instagram account. Shoes are sadly not made by me but from various sellers on Etsy and I may be trying to learn how to do it myself eventually. Anyway enough of the preamble.)
I have been waiting for the accessories to turn up for the frogs and they have been bi keeping amongst themselves as to who was going to do what.
These frogs have been named beautifully by a friend - left to right - Lavender, Chilli, Nutmeg, Parsley, Thyme, and Cinnamon.
Lavender - is a skater dude, with his baggy trousers and jumper, skateboard and boom box. Each frog is equipped with a travel box, with bottle of water, tiny teddy bear, phone, book, and a letter. I’m trying to learn to make mini passports but am failing atm.
Chilli turned out to be a hedge-witch. Pointy hat, basket for foraging, she’s found two mini pumpkins so far, and a broom.
Cinnamon continues his artists journey. I’m a bit worried he’s a forger though, those pics don’t look original to me. With his boho hat and his bellbottomed trousers he’s a bit of a hippy. He travels with his easel, pics, and paints.
Nutmeg is a singer/songwriter and ever goes anywhere without his guitar and microphone, his snazzy hat sets the vibe, I have a feeling his work is rock with a jazzy/folk vibe.
Parsley has a mini picnic packed, mainly liquid, a bottle of wine and a glass accessory her. A book and pencil for taking notes of the words she captures with her wandering thoughts, and a straw hat for keeping off the sun.
Thyme is continuing her learning journey. She has a backpack, a folder for her work, a clipboard and notebook with pencil. She’s hugely into biology, and the spots on her jumper are reminiscent of toadstool spots.
I’m thinking of little charm necklaces or brooches maybe. But I need to stop procrastinating and get them photographed properly for adoption listings on Etsy.
In the meantime I’ve been twiddling my needles and making what I morbidly call frog skins in many colours. These are about half the size of this set, and it will be a good while before they are fully formed.
So that’s me signing off for now, till next time. If you have any suggestions for photo opportunities for the tribe, or any ideas for other animals you’d like to see let me know below. I do post updates on Notes more regularly if you want more regular updates.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
Maybe ask Cinnamon to paint in front of you, so you can figure out the forgery stuff? He'll get caught eventually and then you'll have to knit him a little jail 😢.
These are DELIGHTFUL! The hedge witch is obviously my fave 😂
